Welcome to MamaJ’s Herbals

Join me on this journey of faith, natural remedies and sustainable living.

Hi y’all! I’m Mary Jane—also known around here as MamaJ—and I’m so happy you’re visiting my little slice of homestead life. After retiring from over 40 years as a registered nurse, I felt the Lord calling me back to the basics: natural healing, gardening, and the simple joy of caring for God’s creation… including a few opinionated chickens!

At MamaJ’s Herbals, you’ll find homemade herbal remedies, garden wisdom, and a peek into life with my backyard flock. Everything I share is rooted in faith, love, and a desire to help others find wellness in the ways God intended.

So come on in, take a look around, and make yourself at home. I pray this space blesses you as much as it blesses me to share it.

“See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food.”
Genesis 1:29 (NKJV)

Backyard Chickens

I did not plan on the chickens, but now there are more of them than I can count and it’s clear who runs this place. Coop setup, feed, herbs in the nesting boxes, and getting a flock through Alabama weather.

Herbal Remedies

Salves, syrups, tinctures, and teas, plus plant profiles that go into what an herb actually does. I list the cautions and the drug interactions every time, which is the part most herbal sites leave out.

In the Garden

Everything in my remedy cabinet started as a plant in the dirt. What to plant and when here in Alabama, starting seeds, harvesting at the right time, and drying it all so you don’t lose what you worked for.

Around the Farm

Salves, syrups, tinctures, and teas, plus plant profiles that go into what an herb actually does. I list the cautions and the drug interactions every time, which is the part most herbal sites leave out.
